Release Notes - July 2023 (Version 2.42.4)

Your Illumine.app experience is improving as we work to release new features, enhance existing ones, and squash bugs - cause we’re good buggers who hate bugs (and clearly need to work on our one-liners).

Month of July comes to a close, and boy it went quickly! Nonetheless, here’s the list of features our product and tech teams have worked hard to deliver:

Below is a deep dive of the improvements you’ll find with the latest release of July 2023.

1. ID Cards Generator 🆕

Ever wondered why the option to generate ID cards was not there on Illumine when the platform had all the information necessary to actually create one?

Well, (finally) our product managers did wonder about this, and they’ve delivered something lovable.

As part of the latest update, you can now create ID cards for your students, staff members, as well as authorized pickup persons that parents have for their child.

From the left panel, select REPORTS → ID CARDS

  • Next, select who you want to generate the ID Cards for – student, Staff or Authorized Pickup, and choose from the list of design templates available, and click the “Next” button on top-right of the screen. See snap below.

  • You now come to the second step of customizing the data on the ID cards - including the selection of data fields, font family, font size, etc.

  • Please note, that the school/center logo is auto-picked and placed on these templates. Moreover, a unique Attendance QR code is also generated and placed on the back-side of each student / staff ID card.

  • Thereafter, click the “Next” button on the top-right corner, and select the students / staff for whom you want to generate the ID cards.

  • Once done, you get the final screen with all generated ID cards, with the option to “Download All” on the top right corner, or to download for individual students (click the three vertical dots against each student).

There you have it!

A well designed ID card, with the information you need to show, and something that links with Illumine’s Attendance module too.

2. Invoice Dashboard 🆕

The same yet different – more often than not, the same set of data when represented as graphs can help understand trends better. Before this latest update, invoices - billed, collected, overdue, etc - were always present but not graphically represented.

From the left panel, select FEES → DASHBOARD

On the right screen you now see graphical representation of Revenue, donut chart of buckets of aging invoices - both downloadable, and also dynamic lists of payments received and overdue invoices.

3. Leads Module on iOS 🆕

The Leads module pertaining to admission enquiry management, was already released onto our Android platform for the Teacher-App. With this release, the Leads module is now also available on the iOS version of the Teacher-App.

From the bottom navigation tray, select MORE → scroll down and select LEADS.

4. Staff Schedule linkage with Lesson Plans 🆙

In our previous release we had launched the ‘Staff Schedule’ feature, and then we got the (useful and logical) input from some of our customers to have the Schedule linked with ‘Lesson Planning’. This has now been enabled with the latest release. Hi

From the left panel, go to CALENDAR → STAFF SCHEDULE → click on ‘ADD SCHEDULE’ option on the top-right corner.

From the window that opens, you can now see additional options of ‘Category’ and ‘Lesson’ – both of which are linked with the Lessons section available under the “LEARNING” module.

5. Staff Holiday Calendar 🆙

Everybody loves holidays. And that includes Staff members too!

So while the Staff Holiday calendar was always present under the ‘SETTINGS’ module, the obvious thing to do was to bring it out to a more visible and easily accessible place.

In this release, we have now brought a new section called ‘Staff Holiday’ under the ‘Calendar’ module.

From the left panel, go to CALENDAR → STAFF HOLIDAY, and there you get to see what your heart longs for :)

6. Other Enhancements

  1. Recent Activities show on the web-portal

  2. Parent-web portal – Support and Language options added

Details with snapshot for reference below.

A. When staff members post activities using the web version of Illumine, a new section above the list of all activities shows up, called “Recent Activities”. This is a dynamic list of activities based on recency of posting (through the web-portal).

B. On the parent web version of Illumine, previously there was no ‘Support’ option, nor the option to select other languages – both of which were already present in the parent-mobile-app. With this release, the same has been added onto the web version as well.

Bug Fixes

  • Few technical issues and several smaller enhancements were also undertaken at the backend as well to enhance the smoothness of the web portal and the apps (especially the iOS apps). Nothing noteworthy from a user standpoint – except a smoother feel :)
