Whats the difference between Shared and Direct messages?
Shared Messages: These are messages exchanged between a parent and all staff members who have access to the child’s classroom. Either a parent or a staff member can initiate a Shared Message at any time. Any staff with access to the child’s classroom can read and respond to these messages.
Direct Messages: These are private, one-on-one conversations between a staff member and a parent. No other staff members can see the conversation, except the Admin, unless specific permissions are granted.
Can parents initiate a message with a group?
When a group is created, the staff member who created it must send the first message. This ensures that all participants can see the group. Once the initial message is sent, parents will be able to send messages to the group.
If the "Only admins can send messages" setting is enabled in the group settings, only the group admin can send messages. Other participants will be able to view the messages but will not be able to reply.
Can staff members send messages to each other?
Yes, staff members can send messages to each other using Staff Messages. However, if the permission under Settings > Access Control > Messaging > Staff Communication > Staff Messaging is disabled, they will not be able to message other staff members within the school.
Can School Admin view all messages?
Shared Messages: If the school admin has access to all classrooms, they will be able to view all shared messages within the school.
Direct Messages: To view direct messages between staff and parents, the admin must have the necessary permissions enabled. This can be done by navigating to Settings > Access Control > Messages and enabling "Private Messaging" and "Read all messages of staff", then saving the changes.
Can I create a group for broadcasting messages?
Yes, you can create a group where only admins can send messages. While setting up the group, enable the "Only Admins Can Send Messages" option. This ensures that only group admins can send broadcast messages, while other participants can view them but not reply.
Can I choose to add multiple parents in same group?
Yes, you can add multiple parents to a group. You also have the flexibility to add only one specific parent of a student if needed.
Can I create a group with all staff members?
Yes, you can. When creating a group, simply skip the step where you add students by clicking "Next" and select only staff members before creating the group.
Can I send a direct message to another staff member?
You can send a message to another staff member by following these steps:
1. Go to Connect > Staff > Staff Messages.
2. Select the staff member you want to message.
3. Compose and send your message.
Is it possible to broadcast a message to all staff members together?
There are two ways to broadcast a message to staff members:
1. Staff Announcement:
-Go to Connect > Staff > Staff Announcement.
-Post an announcement visible only to selected staff members.
-Parents will not be able to see these announcements.
2.Staff Group Chat:
-Create a group with only staff members.
-Enable the setting ""Only admin can send messages"" to ensure only the group admin can post, while others can only view the messages.
Can I attach media with messages to parents and groups?
Yes, you can attach media when sending messages to parents.
Is there any limit on no of photos that can be shared via messages?
Yes, currently you can send only one photo at a time in a message.
