Add Custom Fields to Student Profiles

Every preschool or childcare center has unique information requirements. Illumine allows you to personalize student profiles using custom fields, so you can capture and manage the details that matter most to your center.

Access Custom Field Settings

To add or manage custom fields:

  1. Go to Settings from the left-hand navigation

  2. Select Forms

  3. Choose Profile Fields

  4. Select Student to manage student profile fields

  5. Click Add Field

    Choose a Field Type

    When creating a custom field, select the field type that best fits the information you want to collect:

    • Text Field – For open-ended information (for example, Allergies or Preferred Name)

    • Number Field – For numeric data (for example, Emergency Contact Number)

    • Dropdown List – For predefined options (for example, Transportation Mode or Dietary Restrictions)

    • Yes / No Checkbox – For simple confirmations (for example, Has siblings at the center)

    • Date Field – For date-based entries (for example, Enrollment Start Date)

    Configure Field Settings

    After selecting the field type, configure the following options:

    • Field Name – Enter a clear and descriptive name for the field

    • Mandatory – Decide whether the field should be required or optional


      Save and Apply Changes

      Once all details are set:

      1. Click Add Field to save the custom field

      2. The new field will appear in the relevant profile section

      3. Staff can now enter and update this information while managing profiles

By using custom fields, you can tailor student profiles to match your center’s specific needs, ensuring better organization and more accurate record-keeping.
