1. Can I assign different leave policies for specific staff roles?
No, the system does not support role-based leave policies. All staff members follow the same standard leave types and entitlements, regardless of their roles.
2. Is the leave policy based on the calendar year or academic session?
The leave policy is based on the calendar year, not the academic session.
3. Can a staff member apply for more leave than allocated?
Yes, but only if the Negative Leave Balance setting is enabled. With this enabled, staff can apply for leave beyond their allocation, resulting in a negative balance. If disabled, leave requests will be restricted to the available balance.
4. What is a negative leave balance?
It allows staff to continue applying for leave even after using up their allocated quota. Any additional leave taken will reflect as a negative balance.
5. What is the difference between Total Leaves and Default Leaves?
Total Leaves: Total annual leave entitlement for the staff member.
Default Leaves: Number of leave days granted in the staff’s first month of joining.
If Default Leaves = 0, the system distributes Total Leaves evenly each month (Monthly Increment).
To give staff full entitlement upfront, set Total Leaves = Default Leaves.
6. Who can approve staff leave requests?
Any staff member with the "Approve" permission enabled in Access Control can approve leave.
To assign this:
Go to Settings > Access Control > Leave > Staff Leave
Enable the “Approve” option
Click Save
7. Can both parents and staff apply leave for a student?
Yes, both can apply.
For staff to do so, permission must be granted via:
Settings > Access Control > Leave > Student Leaves > Enable “Create” > Save
8. Can the leave start and end date be the same?
Yes, a single-day leave can be applied by selecting the same start and end date.
9. What does the “Weekends” setting mean under Staff Leave Management?
“Weekends” refers to official non-working days.
These days are automatically excluded from leave duration calculations.
You can configure weekends by navigating to:
Settings > Staff Leave Management > Weekends
10. Can one staff member apply leave on behalf of another staff member?
No, staff cannot apply for other staff members’ leave. The previous description was incorrectly about student leaves.
11. Can staff view the leave records of other staff?
Yes, if granted the “View” permission under Access Control:
Go to Settings > Access Control > Leave > Staff Leave > Enable “View” > Save
