🚀 Security Updates: Email OTP Login & Flexible 2FA Management

We're excited to introduce new security enhancements across illumine to make account access safer and more flexible for both parents and staff.


🔐 Email OTP Login Now Live on iOS

Email OTP Login is now available on production for both the Parent App and Staff App on iOS.

What's New?

  • Users can securely sign in using a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to their registered email address.

  • Provides an additional layer of security during login.

  • Offers a seamless and secure sign-in experience without relying solely on passwords.


🛡️ Enhanced Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Controls on Web

We've added more flexibility for managing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) directly from the web platform.

What's New?

  • Users can now enable or disable 2FA from their profile settings.

  • When disabling 2FA, a security disclaimer is displayed to ensure users understand the impact.

  • Users can choose to disable 2FA for:

    • 8 Hours

    • 1 Day

    • Indefinitely

Automatic Re-enablement

If 2FA is disabled temporarily (8 hours or 1 day), it will automatically be re-enabled once the selected duration expires, helping maintain account security.

Where to Find It?

Navigate to: Staff Profile → Actions → Disable 2FA

As shown below:

📍 Open the staff profile and click the Actions dropdown in the top-right corner. You will see the Disable 2FA option.

  • Stronger account security

  • More control over authentication settings

  • A smoother login experience for Parents and Staff

  • Better protection against unauthorized access
