Written by Varun

Available on šŸ“±

One shared device. Every staff member. No shared logins.

We’ve released Staff Room Mode, making it faster and easier for educators to securely use shared classroom devices without repeatedly entering emails and passwords.

šŸ‘† Tap, PIN & Go

Keep a classroom device logged into Room Mode and let staff quickly switch into their own Illumine account.

Each staff member simply:

  • Selects their name

  • Enters their unique 4-digit Room Mode PIN

  • Switches on the toggle "Focus on selected rooms" if they would like to focus on specific room(s).

Once signed in, staff sees their own classrooms, students, permissions, and notifications - so everyone gets the right experience without sharing credentials.

Here's a quick sneak peek

šŸ” Every Staff Member Gets Their Own PIN

Staff can view their personal Room Mode PIN directly from their profile, making it easy to access shared devices securely.

Here's a screenshot of Staff Personal Profile with Room Mode Pin visible.

šŸŽÆ Focus Mode for Specific Classrooms

Need a shared device dedicated to particular rooms?

Turn on Toggle Focus on Selected Rooms and select one or more classrooms. Staff using that device will only see the relevant rooms, helping keep the classroom experience focused.

If multiple rooms are selected, staff in Room mode will be able to mark attendance and post activities across all selected rooms.

šŸ”„ Switch Staff in Seconds

When a staff member is finished, simply tap Exit to return to the staff selection screen. The next educator can select their name, enter their PIN, and continue.

Why You’ll Love It

āœ” No shared staff accounts or passwords
āœ” No repeated email and password logins
āœ” Individual permissions and access are maintained
āœ” Quickly switch between educators on the same device
āœ” Restrict shared devices to specific classrooms with Focus Mode
